Why online psychiatry works
Most of a psychiatrist's work is conversation: a detailed history, assessment of symptoms with standardised scales, and explaining the diagnosis and treatment plan. All of this works fully over video. International research and WHO telemedicine recommendations recognise the online format as effective for diagnosing and managing depression, anxiety disorders, insomnia, OCD, PTSD and many other conditions.
Online care removes the main barriers: no cross-town travel, no time off work, no waiting rooms and no fear of meeting someone you know. This matters especially for smaller cities in Kazakhstan, where specialists are scarce, and for people who find it hard to leave home because of anxiety or depression.
Where online care has limits
We are honest about the limits of the format. Acute psychosis, severe withdrawal, delirium, suicide risk, or the need for an IV drip or lab tests require an in-person examination, a home visit or inpatient care. In such cases Psychiatry Online arranges a mobile team or hospital admission, and online sessions remain for preparation and follow-up.
Prescriptions and certain medications are regulated by the law of the Republic of Kazakhstan and by requirements for an initial examination. Your doctor will explain which decisions can be made remotely and which only after an in-person visit.
How we work
Psychiatry is the core of the clinic — about 70% of our consultations. Addiction care and psychotherapy complement it: addiction often goes hand in hand with depression and anxiety, and psychotherapy strengthens the effect of medication. Each patient has one attending doctor who brings in colleagues when needed.
We follow ICD-10 and ICD-11, the clinical protocols of the Ministry of Health of Kazakhstan and the international NICE and APA guidelines. Every prescription is explained and agreed with you in advance — no hidden fees and no unnecessary procedures.
How an online appointment works
- Message or callWrite on WhatsApp or call — our coordinator replies within minutes, day or night. You don't have to give your surname.
- Doctor and timeWe match you with a psychiatrist, addiction specialist or psychotherapist and agree on a time — often the same day.
- Video consultationA secure 50–60 minute video call: the doctor takes a detailed history and uses standardised scales if needed.
- Treatment planYou receive a clear summary, recommendations and a plan: what we do online and what needs an in-person visit or home call.
- Follow-upOnline follow-up sessions, messenger contact with your doctor, and treatment adjustments until you get a stable result.
Questions and answers
Can I see a psychiatrist online in Kazakhstan?
Yes. Video consultations are available 24/7 from any district or suburb — all you need is a smartphone or computer with internet. A doctor usually connects the same day, often within an hour.
How much does an online consultation cost in Kazakhstan?
An online psychiatrist consultation starts from 12 000 ₸, an addiction specialist from 12 000 ₸, a psychotherapist from 15 000 ₸. Talking to our coordinator by phone or WhatsApp is free.
Is it confidential? Will I be put on a registry?
Yes, it is confidential: your first name is enough. Information is protected by medical confidentiality and is not shared with third parties except where expressly required by the law of Kazakhstan. A private consultation does not mean a registry entry.
What if online is not enough?
The doctor will tell you honestly if an in-person examination, tests, a home visit or inpatient care is needed, and will arrange it. in Kazakhstan we have mobile teams and two branches.
Can I book a consultation for a relative?
Yes. Family members can speak with a doctor first — they will advise how to encourage the person to seek help and what to do in an acute situation.
What should I do in an emergency?
If life is at risk — seizures, loss of consciousness, suicidal thoughts, aggression — call 112 or 103 immediately. You can then contact us for further treatment.
